Internationale Musikfestspiele Süderelbe
Launching September 2025 – A New Chapter for Classical Music South of the Elbe, Germany
Beginning in September 2025, internationally renowned pianist Haiou Zhang will inaugurate a new classical music festival close to the metropolitan city of Hamburg: Internationale Musikfestspiele Süderelbe. Geographically embracing the culturally rich region south of the Elbe River—including Harburg, Buchholz, Stade, and Buxtehude—the festival will place a strong artistic emphasis on chamber music and piano recitals.
With over 200 concerts curated across the past 15 years at his previous festival, Haiou Zhang has established an exceptional reputation for his artistic integrity, curatorial passion, and a uniquely personal connection with his audiences. His concerts have consistently drawn enthusiastic and loyal listeners from across the region.
"Classical music is the key to connecting people from different backgrounds and age groups. It is not just a social act for elites. Good music is for everyone—and my mission is to create something truly unforgettable and deeply emotional before they walk out of the concert hall. Here I would like to express my gratitude for all my loyal partners for their absolute trust in me."
The Internationale Musikfestspiele Süderelbe aspires to become a cultural highlight of Northern Germany, uniting exceptional musicians and devoted audiences in powerful shared experiences that celebrate the universal language of music.
